Denmark Blocks Polymarket and 97 Gambling Domains
Court-Backed Enforcement Continues
The Danish Gambling Authority first asks operators to stop offering gambling without a licence. If they do not comply, telecommunications providers seek court approval before implementing a DNS block.
This is Denmark’s second blocking action in just over a year. A previous court order covered 178 unlicensed gambling websites, then the largest single group blocked since the enforcement process began.
Polymarket Faces Wider European Scrutiny
Polymarket lets users take positions on real-world events. Danish authorities treated its offering as gambling requiring domestic authorisation, rather than as a product outside national gambling law.
The decision comes as Denmark considers gambling reforms, including the regulatory treatment of prediction markets. It also shows operators, affiliates, payment providers and technology partners that product labels do not override licensing requirements.
Official List Defines the Scope of the Blocking Order
The Danish Gambling Authority’s announcement provides access to the current list of 98 blocked domains. Polymarket is listed as entry 97, alongside online casino, betting, crypto-gambling, and mirror domains.
The list serves as a clear compliance reference for operators, affiliates, payment providers and technology partners. Its breadth indicates that enforcement covers both traditional gambling websites and emerging event-based products. Cross-border businesses should assess whether their localisation, payments, advertising or event coverage targets Danish consumers. Where Danish market indicators are present, licensing reviews or geo-restrictions should be completed before services become accessible.
