IGT has named Jamie Knight as its next Chief Studios Officer, with the appointment set to take effect on 1 January 2027 as Jean Venneman prepares to retire after more than three decades in the gaming industry.

According to IGT’s official announcement, Knight will lead the supplier’s continued investment in its global studio operations, with responsibility spanning game design, content development and studio strategy. Venneman will retire on 31 December 2026.

The transition gives IGT a defined succession plan for one of its key product leadership positions as the combined IGT and Everi business continues to develop its gaming content portfolio.

Key Takeaways for Gaming Suppliers

  • Jamie Knight will become IGT Chief Studios Officer on 1 January 2027.

  • Jean Venneman will retire at the end of December after more than 30 years in gaming.

  • Knight will oversee game design, content development, and global studio operations.

  • Her role will include innovation in game mechanics and mathematical modelling.

  • IGT says the appointment builds on the studio structure developed under Venneman.

Knight to Lead IGT Global Studio Strategy

Knight brings around two decades of industry experience, with a background spanning creative development and studio leadership. IGT said her experience in turning creative concepts into commercial gaming products will shape her approach to the new role.

As Chief Studios Officer, she will set priorities across studio teams and support innovation in game mechanics, mathematical modelling and content strategy.

Knight said:

Together with our talented teams across IGT and Everi, we’ll push the boundaries of what’s possible in game design.

The focus on design and product differentiation comes as game suppliers continue to compete for operator attention across increasingly crowded content portfolios.

The analysis of slot design and mythology trends highlighted IGT’s role in establishing long-running slot franchises, including Pharaoh’s Fortune and Cleopatra. The report also showed how recognisable mechanics, visual themes and established intellectual property continue to influence modern slot development.

Venneman Leaves 1200 Strong Studio Organisation

Venneman began her career at IGT in the early 1990s and later held senior roles across product development, licensing, technology and operations before returning to the company in 2024.

Since returning, she has rebuilt IGT’s global studio operation, which the company says now includes more than 1,200 employees. IGT credited Venneman with bringing studio teams together, establishing shared working practices and creating the operational structure Knight will inherit.

The move also reflects a wider pattern of gaming companies appointing experienced internal leaders to support their next stage of growth. NuxGame recently appointed Mariia Baranova as COO, giving her responsibility for standardising operations and introducing more data-driven processes as part of its latest B2B leadership expansion.

Leadership Changes Continue Across iGaming

Senior appointments have remained active across the gaming supplier and services sector in 2026, particularly around product development, technology and international expansion.

September also brought further senior leadership changes across the iGaming industry, with All-In Global appointing Martin Calvert as Marketing Director as it expands its AI localisation and international growth strategy.

For IGT, however, the upcoming transition remains firmly centred on studios and product development. Knight will inherit a global organisation that IGT says Venneman strengthened, while taking responsibility for the next phase of investment across game design, content strategy and mathematical innovation.

Her appointment will formally take effect at the beginning of 2027, immediately following Venneman’s retirement.
