Alberta began with 22 approved websites, including separate casino and sportsbook products operated by some of the same companies. The current AiGC directory lists 27 sites, meaning the available regulated selection has increased by five since launch.
The figures refer to individual websites rather than 27 distinct operators. Brands such as bet365, FanDuel and theScore operate separate casino and sportsbook products, while other operators offer both verticals through one platform.
Keene previously said the province expected to exceed its channelisation targets. Speaking shortly after launch, he stated:
We think we can overachieve on that number. We will, going forward, based on what I’ve seen.
The expansion follows the framework covered in Ace Alliance’s report on Alberta’s 13 July market launch, when the province became Canada’s second competitive regulated iGaming jurisdiction after Ontario.
